I am pleased to welcome Nabil Najjar who, as of noon today, is the Chairman Elect of London Conservative Future. Nabil and I have worked closely together on the BackBoris2012 campaign as well as during his time as Deputy-Chairman for Membership of the organisation so there is, in my opinion, no better candidate in terms of experience for leading CF in London onwards.

After two years in the role I can say that it is one that is both challenging and rewarding. Building London CF into what it is today in terms of its successes in campaigning, membership growth, and social engagement has taken hard work yet more remains to be done to consolidate this and to see us through the challenges that are to come. The Excellence Awards that we have won from the Party (Membership, Policy Forum, Campaigning (the last nominated - yet to see if we win)) are great achievements but they are like laurels upon which we cannot afford to rest and allow complacency to set in.

I firmly believe that Nabil has the vision, the dedication, and the energy to ensure a bright and successful future for the organisation so I wish him all the best of luck and my congratulations.

No official handover will take place before the conclusion of the National CF Election at 17:00 on the 25th March but we will look to conclude a period of transition not long after this date.

London Conservative Future was lucky enough to host Grant Shapps MP, the former Minister for Housing and recently appointed Chairman of the Conservative Party, as our guest speaker at the first regional Christmas dinner.

Speaking to the 40 CF members that were in attendance, Mr Shapps explained the challenges we face in the run up to election, and what the key messages will be. In addition to taking questions from the floor, he paid a tribute to the work of London Conservative Future, saying it was an “invitation he accepted without hesitation”.

The dinner was held at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, and guests enjoyed a three course meal as well as a chance to catch up with one another and reflect on what has been a busy year for activists. It was especially great to see so many new members.

Our thanks go to both Grant Shapps for his support, as well as all those who attended to make it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Our mission has been accomplished, Boris is back in City Hall.

Over twenty months ago I stood for election as Chairman of London Conservative Future with the sole objective of building an organisation in the Capital that could play an integral role in Boris’s Mayoral Re-Election campaign. It cannot be denied that CF had, at best, suffered from a mixed reputation when it came to being an effective campaigning force, combating and triumphing over this conception was my prime objective. I feel confident in saying now that this objective has been accomplished.

The last weekend of campaigning in the BackBoris2012 campaign saw Conservative Future activists in London help give the final push to the campaign. The culmination of 19 months of dedicated campaigning is an achievement that many will be proud of but the end has not come yet. CFers will be out over the days of the final week delivering to stations and knocking-up voters. If you are not yet involved I urge you to do so now. Do not wake up on May 4th to find that Ken Livingstone is Mayor of London and wish that you had done more.

London CF's Area Chairmen who have worked with me over the last 19 months are centrally vital to success in the campaign to re-elect Boris Johnson as Mayor of London. They have worked tirelessly over many many months to build-up local CF activist numbers, to work with local branches and to support the campaigning efforts of the Party. Below they report on their activities during the penultimate weekend of the campaign which I hope will encourage you, the reader, to join them on their last push this Saturday and Sunday, the very last weekend before polling day (click on the day for more details).

Yesterday Andrew Rosindell, MP for Romford since 2001, was the speaker at the latest London CF phone canvassing session for Boris Johnson - a special St George's Day event.

In another strong session, around two dozen activists called key target voters to get their take on the issues that matter most to them. We then heard from Andrew over pizza and drinks.

A heavy duty weekend of campaigning marked the entry into the third weekend to go until polling day for the 2012 Mayoral Elections. This blitz of activity was far too much to put in one article so this campaign overview links the reader to an article for each campaign event. Suffice to say the sheer amount of Back Boris campaigning CFers are doing is dizzying!
